GIVEAWAY!!!

Enter the Rafflecopter at right until Sunday, September 28th at noon to win a $25.00 Amazon Gift Card.

This is for my #NewRelease Life Lessons under the name J.R. Hopkins.

A chance discovery. Words of wisdom buried in a box of papers.

Prior to his death, a father shares his life lessons through colorful anecdotes of a well-lived life. Some are humorous, some profound, on a myriad of subjects from hot peppers to cars to lying. This assembly is of a daughter's tribute to her father's recollections on lessons he learned, sparking her own retrospection.

Are the life lessons you have learned important to you? Do you live by them? Let's chat about them on twitter and use the hashtag #LifeLessons.

Come join the twitter chat here: http://twubs.com/lifelessons and tell us what are some of the life lessons you've learned, the important ones, the ones that stick with you, or new ones on Friday, September 26th between 9am and 9pm (PST).

Below are some tweets I created about the book. From the Rafflecopter above, choose one from the list below, or feel free to create your own. :-) I have tested them all, they should not be over the tweet character limit and some may have room to add something.

  1. How did you come to write "Life Lessons"? This sounds like such a wonderful book and a great idea. Did your father contribute to it?

  2. When my sister and her daughter went to SE Alaska in July 2012 to clean out the house my mother had been living in since my father passed away in Nov 2005, she found a some type pages written by my father. They were his life lessons and how he had learned them while growing up. He has a very unique writing style, so different from mine, but I thought these life lessons would make a good nonfiction read. So you can say he is also a contributor to the book because I put his life lesson first, exactly as he wrote them, and then I commented on his life lessons, what they meant to me, and then later in the book I added some of my own life lessons I've learned or important to me.

  3. That's awesome, and it's such a good idea. It was probably a growing experience for you, too.

  4. Yes. It was fun to read those papers he had composed about 18 months before he passed away. He said he was writing them because he couldn't sleep and my father was always a deep thinker. He probably wanted to get them off his chest and leave something for us. I know his twin sisters have enjoyed reading them; I sent them each a copy of the book in print and of course mentioned them in the book as well. There are also lots of photographs to go with the 'stories'. My editor said he wished my father were still alive to have written more because he said he liked his writing style very much and enjoyed ending the book.

  5. That's a wonderful story. That kind of thing brings people closer together. I'm sorry your dad wasn't around to see the book become published. I'm sure he'd be proud.

  6. There are a lot of things my father is missing. Including a book we started together a long time ago and I have yet to finish it. I wish he were here to help me with it.
